Homecoming 7/22

Mom and baby are doing so well, they were discharged early today. Jenna's pregnancy, labor, birth, and even her little personality are so perfect..... we feel so VERY blessed. She even scored 10's on her Apgar tests. We are so proud of her. Thank you one and all for your support and prayers, things could not have been more perfect. We'll be posting more pictures after her she's done eating.......

Week 41 (Monday, July 19th)

Well, it's Monday morning, and still no baby. We've walked over a hundred miles on the neighborhood sidewalks in an attempt to coax Ms. Jenna out into the world. Over the weekend we had a number of contraction "sessions", none of which lasted more than an hour. Mom is very tired and sore at this point. She's unable to sleep for more than 3 hours and her fingers have swollen up to the size of sausages. Dad has taken on sympathetic insomnia which is induced by his wife. Anxiety probably contributes a big factor as well.

Today is the last day that we'll walk into an empty baby room. Wish us luck and say a prayer for our next few anxious days, and for our new baby girl.

Week 40 (Thursday, July 15th)

We went to our "final" doctors appointment only to find out that we're still at 2cm and head-down. Our stress test showed Jenna and Momma are doing well. The doctor "swept the membrane" in an attempt to accelerate natural labor. In the event that that fails, the doctor scheduled us to be induced on Tuesday (7/20). For sake of the Birthday Pool, the induction time will be withheld.

We are anxious to hear your labor educing recipes. Please email anything you have to:     wanna-baby-soon@hicksmix.com

Week 40 (Monday, July 12th)

Mom's patience is growing thin. As her pains and anxiety grow, her sleeping hours become less and less. The couch and heating pad have become Mom's best friends. Her sleepless nights have finally enticed her to pack the hospital bag which is on 'stand-by' in the garage. Despite her anxiety, we were quite relieved that a 7/11 baby was avoided. We're looking forward to our doctor appointment on the 15th, and possible discussion of inducing labor very soon. Either way, we're expecting our little one to be born by the weekend.

Week 39 (July 5th)

Well the contractions seem to have slowed a bit. We're now lucky  to have 4 in an hour. With the arrival of the changing table, Jenna's room is now complete. We've unpacked and washed all the lovely shower gifts, played with the cool walkie-talkies, and are now ready for our little girl to arrive (see pictures below). We've begun to have 'super' contractions which last longer than the normal contractions and make mom's butt numb. Our weekly appointment on the 8th again confirmed our contractions and 2cm dilation. The doctor also discussed voluntary induction which could be elected as early as next week. If we go 10 days beyond our scheduled due date, the doctor will elect to induce for us.

Week 38 (June 28th)

Well, we were hoping that this week would be the end of our waiting. During our weekly doctor appointment on Thursday we discovered that the strange feelings that Diana was having every 10 minutes were actually contractions. Additionally the doc tells us that we're now at 2cm! The contractions continued for about four days, staying somewhat regular between 7 and 15 minutes apart, right through our anniversary and the 4th of July weekend. We thought for sure that Jenna was going to be a 4th baby!

Week 37 (June 21th)

Todd has finally returned from his 6 week trip to England for business. While at the airport we also picked up Amber, who will be here for 3 weeks of her summer break. This week also marks our start of weekly visits to the doctor, at which the doc reported that we've dilated to 1cm. As if the week wasn't busy enough, we also crammed in Jenna's baby shower. (Thank you all again for your wonderful gifts!)
